Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival 2010 John Cage: Every Day Is A Good Day
Philip curates a series of concerts during the course of hcmf 2010 to go alongside the exhibition of John Cage's visual art (see here and here for more information). To include a 12-hour solo version of Electronic Music for Piano and a performance of Winter Music and Atlas Eclipticalis with Apartment House

Sol LeWitt: Artists Books, Site Gallery, Sheffield
Philip curated a series of performances in conjunction with the wonderful exhibition of Sol LeWitt's books.
Over the course of three weekends Philip was joined by the edges ensemble, Stephen Chase, John Lely, Anton Lukoszevieze, Ross Parfitt, Kunsu Shim, Gerhard Staebler and Manfred Werder.

Thursday November 5th, 2009 The Cutting Edge

Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival 2009
Philip featured in three events this year.
Sunday 22nd November Apartment House with Frank Gratkowski plays music by Anthony Braxton, Christian Wolff, and a new work by Gratkowski. See also 15th November at the November Music festival, Holland.
Monday - Friday, 23rd-27th November Philip performs sections of Michael Pisaro's pi (1-2594) daily at 11.00am. Each day a piece or pieces will be chosen for performance using chance methods, resulting in a performance which will last anywhere between five minutes and one hour.
Tuesday 24th November Small Preludes, aytoods and other new music from America World and UK premieres of solo piano music from Douglas Barrett, Travis Just, Joseph Kudirka, Michael Pisaro, Larry Polansky, Craig Shephard, Michael Winter and Christian Wolff.

Over the summer, Philip appeared at this year's Ostrava Days 2009 Institute as a guest lecturer, alongside other guests such as Christian Wolff, Petr Kotik, Bernhard Lang, Rebecca Saunders, Richard Ayres, Michael Schumacher and Elliot Sharp. He also gave a lecture recital at the Sixth Biennial International Conference on Music Since 1900, at Keele University, Friday 3rd July, entitled 'Abstruse indeterminacy: Christian Wolff's For Pianist as extreme performance practice'
Since January 2010 Philip is heading up both the performance programme and the Masters programme at the University of Huddersfield Music Department. He is also pioneering the Music Department as a centre for the study of the performance of experimental music and welcomes proposals at doctorate and post-doctorate levels.
